“Allergy Symptoms” and “allergy remedy” information are all over the internet but it’s mostly given from the point of view of pharmacy drugs being the only way to treat allergies.
For years I took these medicines and inhalers but eventually I wanted another way to deal with my allergic asthma and food allergies.
I tried various natural remedies and found out what worked and what did not. I also studied natural treatments for many years and made practical changes to my home environment.

So this website has information about allergies, allergy symptoms and allergy remedies you can use. It has come out of my experience over many years. I recommended you use it with care and responsibility for your own health care.
And it’s best to use it alongside your health care provider.
Your health professional may have discussed OTC remedies with you but perhaps not Natural Remedies or the practical measures you can take at home, so let’s spend some time looking at our options.
It’s not natural to be allergic to food and the simple things of everyday life or to get wheezy and asthmatic just by breathing!
And in the Allergy Action Plan that we discuss here on this site you have been encouraged to eat natural food, drink pure water, breath clean air…
So you may be surprised that I firmly advise everyone not just those of us who are allergic that we need extra vitamins and minerals on top of the best diet we can get.
Why Take Natural Allergy Remedies?
In a perfect world we probably would not need to take extra vitamins or minerals to supplement our diet. So if you live in the Garden of Eden you may not need to take Food Supplements, but the rest of us and allergic people more so, really need to take extra vitamins.
Partially this is to deal with the stress of the allergy.
Dealing with the symptoms of all allergy is stressful and our Nervous System needs more vitamin B to help us cope; also our sleep may be disturbed so we need more vitamin C – sometimes called, “the sleep vitamin”.
And if your diet is “less than perfect” these vitamins may be missing from our food or only present in very small quantities.
Even if you live on an organic farm you still need to take extra. One stretch of land is hardly ever going to have all the many different minerals that we need. If they are not in the soil they cannot get into the plant
The last point concerns individuality. You are unique; there is no-one else the same-even if you are a twin. Your allergies are individual and so are your vitamin and mineral requirements.
There is a classic book, “Biochemical Individuality” by Dr. Roger Williams. In chapter 10, Dr.Williams describes the large differences between what one person needs of a particular vitamin and the needs of another person.
You will find students of Nutrition generally take much higher doses of vitamins than the average person does
Which Natural Allergy Remedies Are Best?
When using natural remedies we always start with the principle of “Remove the cause”. If we live in a constant state of high levels of allergy triggers then the body just gets tired, depleted and drained! Some detective work may be required to find out what the triggers are.
Our very first tactic of boosting our health with Natural Remedies is to make sure we get proper natural levels of vitamin C. Our usual diets don’t give us much vitamin C even if we eat lots of Oranges and other fruit.
Ideally the vitamin C should be accompanied by a good dose of bioflavenoids, this helps with capillary function which is so important in allergies.
A diet which does not cause allergy problems of its own is important too.
• Many people are allergic to wheat – very common in our daily diet
• Many people are allergic to cows milk – also very common
• And many others are allergic to eggs!
So dropping these 3 foods from the diet for a few weeks may help. It might be awkward but if it works and you feel a lot better and have more energy, sleep better and feel happier then tweaking your diet to cut out a small number of allergic foods is well worth it!
Eliminating environmental triggers- household chemicals, foods with chemical colourings in them, personal products with irritating ingredients…
Becoming more aware of your life and what it is that makes you feel better or worse can help you take steps towards your own healthy lifestyle. Keeping a journal can help here. You can start to notice patterns – what food or other trigger makes you feel ill or exhausted?
Keeping a diary or allergy journal can help you and your health professional get to the root of your health issues faster then otherwise.
Try it and see for yourself and if you have used a journal already let me know if you found it useful and have any tips to pass on…
