Homeopathic Allergy Remedies

Homeopathy is a medical system invented or at least developed by Samuel Hahnemann a German Doctor in 1796. Homeopathic remedies are chosen by a Homeopathic Physician according to your feelings and symptoms after a thorough questioning allows them to home in on the most useful remedy.

That means there is not a standard way of treating “allergy” or anything else in homeopathy, the Doctor or Homeopathic Practitioner has to question each patient very carefully choosing the remedy.

For example – peeling or chopping onions makes the eyes water and produces a stinging sensation.

To a homeopathic Doctor a patient who is suffering from these symptoms from an allergy for example, a homeopathic preparation of Onion, Allium Cepa, would be the correct remedy and would stop the symptoms quickly.

Another patient with an allergy but who has symptoms of hay fever or conjunctivitis would be given Euphrasia. This patient would feel better in cooler conditions and dislike bright lights.

Arsenicum album is a major homeopathic remedy often used in cases of a weak, restless and anxious person who is very needy and has multiple food sensitivities and feels better with warmth and worse with cold.

Ferrum phosphoricum – useful for the first stag of any inflammation. The patient feels worse for heat, jarring movements, touch or physical exertion and better for cold and rest.

Nux vomica is often used for allergic headaches. The patient will be a driven and critical person who is an overachiever and pushes themselves too much.

Apis Mellifica aka apis mel 30 C

This looks like a general first aid remedy to have handy. Apis Mel is used as a treatment for swelling and oedema and itching and stinging pain. So it can be used for insect stings and bites but also for sunburn.

Typical eye symptoms may be swollen eyelids, watery eyes or red conjunctiva (the “white” of the eye). There may also be a sore throat – feeling hot and swollen and difficulty swallowing.

Ledum Palustre aka Ledum Pal 30C,
Made from Wild Rosemary Ledum Pal can be used if Apis Mel has not worked fully. Recommended for puncture wounds and mosquito bites. The pain is penetrating and gnawing or biting. Used for Acne or eczema on the face.

Staphysagria 30 is supposed to be very effective in repelling mosquitoes and preventing mosquito bites. It also helps recovery from trauma and promotes healing from wounds.
