Acupuncture and Acupressure For Your Allergy
Acupuncture is a medical technique acceptable to many people who want to get away from their reliance on pharmacy drugs. It is known as a Chinese system of medicine but there are Doctors all over the world who practise acupuncture and acupressure.
How Do Acupuncture and Acupressure Work?
In Chinese and other far eastern medical systems energy flow and energy balance is of prime importance. We know that blood circulates around the body and we know that the nervous system carries signals all over the body regulating the health of the organs such as the liver or the kidneys.
In Chinese medicine special attention is given to the flow of energy all over the body along lines called meridians or channels. Disease is thought of as a blockage in these meridians stopping adequate circulation in the energy and leading to symptoms such as allergies, asthma or skin problems.
The treatment may consist of stimulating particular points on the meridians which can increase energy flow.
• Acupuncture Treatment: This stimulation may need the expert attention of a properly trained Doctor of Acupuncture using acupuncture needles inserted at special points
• Acupressure Treatment In principle any point that may be treated with acupuncture can also be used be treated with finger tip pressure using a technique called acupressure.
And in both techniques some of the points may not be used during pregnancy!
Which Acupressure Points Do I use For Allergy Treatment?
The direct answer is that I don’t know your state of health and in Chinese Acupuncture and Acupressure treatment each person must be diagnosed and treated individually.
A more helpful answer for you is that there are some general points which act against allergies and also boost general health and here are a few. Before we start each of the hundreds of acupressure points has both a Chinese name, such as ho gu and a Western medical name such as Large Intestine 4 and we’ll be looking at the western names.
3 Great Acupressure Points for Allergy Treatment
1. Large Intestine 4 - this point is on the hand and is used to relieve sinus pain and congestion. Contraindicated if someone is suspected of being pregnant.
2. Kidney 27- used to treat exhaustion, wheezing and coughing. K 27 points are on the upper chest just under the collar bone about an inch out to the side the notch between your 2 collar bones – hint, it’s the point where it hurts!
3. Stomach 36 – on the shin used as remedy
There are other points which may be used to treat your allergy symptoms and it’s best to get some treatment from a well trained Acupuncture or Acupressure practitioner and get tuition on how to use the points yourself for self treatment. There are other natural remedies for allergies and one of my favourites is vitamin C but I also like using some acupressure as well!
