Getting Allergy Asthma Relief

1

Getting treatment is one thing and doing what you can to provide some practical measures at home to help reduce your allergic asthma makes a lot of sense. Whether you are getting nutritional or herbal remedies it still makes a big difference if you can take some simple measures at home.

Let’s start with no cost and low cost measures and then we’ll look at some technology you can use.

1.    A Low Dust House – keeping your house or apartment as free as possible from dust carried in on shoes can help. Simple things like leaving shoes at the door may work for you as well as using a door mat to reduce the amount carried indoors.

2.   Pet control – if you have a family pet such as a cat or dog then either train them to stay off the furniture or be prepared for wash removable covers often to keep pet dander as low as possible in the house. Pet dander is a powerful trigger for many with allergic asthma. Pets can be wiped down or perhaps showered or bathed as well. It’s most important to keep pets out of the bedroom and off the beds.

3.   Talking of beds – there are special sheets and pillow covers that will help with dust mite allergy. The bedroom of someone with asthma should offer as few places for dust as possible – consider removing carpets and unnecessary furniture.

4.   Dusting – An important part of allergy control is keeping the home as dust free as possible. If the allergy / asthma person is the person doing the dusting then extra precautions must be taken. Years ago when I had asthma problems I did the dusting wearing a simple low cost dust mask – this was very effective and I used it for all vacuuming and dusting. I also made sure that I went out of the house straight after this housework to allow the dust stirred up by the housework to settle. If you have a high efficiency vacuum cleaner of one with HEPA filter built in this may not be necessary.

5.   Air filters – now we get into technology solutions for reducing the burden of allergens like pollen and dust mites. There are electronic ones which work by electrically zapping dust particles and there are high efficiency filters called HEPA filters which be small enough to go on a table top or can be big enough to cope with a large room. You will need to know how big your room is to choose the right HEPA filter for your needs.

There are some action steps you can take in your home to reduce the dust and dander allergy burden on the asthma patient. Some may be quite complex like getting a HEPA filter while others like simple cleaning are very simple. As well as these practical measures it also makes sense to learn as much as possible about allergic asthma to find out what else you can do to live a symptom free and healthy life.

A couple of my friends have been recommending your site recently, but I never bothered to look at first. Now that I’ve actually Having now read your writing I must say that it is very, very good and I hope this carries on into the future. More often than not, it helps me get through hard times since I like to read blogs I am interested in to lift my mood. Your site helps me to do precisely that. I am extremely grateful for that, for sure. If it’s alright with you, may I ask, how long have you been doing this for? I’m merely wondering because I am seriously considering starting this myself. Naturally, if you don’t wish to reply, I totally understand, and I wish you the best of luck with your writing nonetheless. This place is wonderful!
